I bought some plexiglass about two years ago, excited to put together my own Lightbox for transferring and tracing. Two years ago.
I was walking down the local community wide yardsale and saw this dingy wooded box for $1 and casually picked it up for purchase. Then skiped over to my husband and said. "This is perfect!"
So, finally two weeks ago I went to Lowes and Walmart to get the final pieces for my masterpiece.
Granted it's battery operated and the glass isn't subdued so I blind myself everytime I use it.. BUT.. it's all mine and I made it my self. Yea Me!

It's gorgeous, girl. I built one in HS. It was a craft project, built out of random, free pieces of oak, quarter inch thick window glass and wired for direct current. It weighed a ton. It was definitely not portable. Your light box is a far more elegant solution.
